NHR research assignment

To begin his article Boynton uses an anecdote to engage the reader; a story as old as time, of the little guy standing up to 'The Man'. This anecdote also introduces the theme of the article very clearly without stating a thesis or anything similar. Boynton moves on to give several other examples and quotes several writers, but he gives little analysis as if his goal is to present the facts from his point of view and let the reader decide their impact. For example, Boynot quotes the constitution in order to support an opinion in a quote by another authot rather than his own analysis. This is a very effective rethoric as it leaves the reader feeling as though he or she came to a conclusion about the world rather than was presented with one. In fact, this article is written much in the style of Lethem's "The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism" in the sense that it is built from the union of many other people's work presented in one argument.
